The hotel faced several drawbacks, such as musty odors in the onsen and aging infrastructure that required maintenance. Stone steps were a pain for transporting luggage, especially when they got icy. Shared bathrooms created an awkward experience at night, as you had to navigate a communal area to access the facilities, leaving little room for privacy.

The staff were accommodating, even providing a special Western breakfast on request. The hot springs experience was great, with lovely views of the bamboo forest, delivering both relaxation and rejuvenation. The traditional Japanese room was beautifully decorated, offering comfort with its futon mattresses. The shower water temperature fluctuated at times, and the hotel's remote location meant accessing nearby dining options required planning.
